Washington, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan and the United States held the 10th round of their annual political consultations in Washington on Monday, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations based on mutual respect, constructive dialogue and long-term cooperation.

The consultations were led by Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and the United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Paul Kapur.

Regional security featured prominently in the discussions, with both sides exchanging views on counterterrorism cooperation, efforts to combat extremism and measures to address cross-border crime. They also underscored the importance of continued coordination within international and regional organisations to promote peace, stability and sustainable development across Central Asia.

The officials further welcomed the strengthening of the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation in various economic sectors, describing it as an important step toward expanding trade, investment and broader economic engagement between Tajikistan and the United States.

The consultations reflected the two countries’ continued commitment to maintaining regular high-level dialogue and advancing cooperation on bilateral, regional and international issues of shared interest.
