Turkmenistan, Georgia Discuss Expanding Strategic Cooperation During Presidential Talks

Tbilisi, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held one-on-one talks with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Thursday during his state visit to Georgia, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
An official welcoming ceremony for President Berdimuhamedov was held at the Orbeliani Presidential Palace, following which the two presidents met in a private format to discuss the current state and future prospects of Turkmenistan-Georgia relations.
During the talks, the leaders reviewed priority areas for expanding bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on trade, economic partnership, transport connectivity, and the energy sector.
The discussions underscored Turkmenistan’s continued commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and deepening ties with Georgia, which remains one of the key priorities of Ashgabat’s foreign policy.
Both sides expressed interest in diversifying bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation on modern transport infrastructure to facilitate efficient cargo movement along the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor, linking Central Asia with Europe.
The two presidents also discussed closer coordination between the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and Georgia’s Port of Poti to improve regional logistics and boost transit potential.
In addition, the leaders explored opportunities to utilise Georgia’s transit network for delivering Turkmen energy resources to international markets, highlighting the strategic importance of enhanced regional connectivity and energy cooperation.
The meeting reflected the shared determination of Turkmenistan and Georgia to further strengthen their strategic partnership and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in support of regional economic integration and sustainable development.
