Tajik Envoy, KP Governor Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation and CASA-1000 Project
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, His Excellency Yusuf Sharifzoda, met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to review bilateral relations and explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, tourism, transport and energy.
During the meeting held on July 22, the two sides discussed the current state and future prospects of relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan, reaffirming their commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening people-to-people and economic ties.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in trade, tourism, transport connectivity and the energy sector, with both sides recognizing the significant potential for greater regional engagement and economic partnership.
A major point of discussion was the implementation of the CASA-1000 (Central Asia–South Asia Electricity Transmission and Trade Project), which was described as a strategically important initiative for promoting regional integration and sustainable development.
Both sides underscored the significance of the project in enhancing regional energy security, facilitating cross-border electricity trade and fostering stronger economic connectivity among participating countries.
The Tajik ambassador and the governor emphasized that the successful implementation of CASA-1000 would contribute to long-term regional stability and prosperity while creating new opportunities for cooperation between Central and South Asia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to maintain constructive dialogue and further strengthen cooperation between the Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the regions of the Republic of Tajikistan, with a shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
