Vision 2050 to Steer Mauritius Towards a Resilient, Inclusive and High-Income Future
Port Louis, The Gulf Observer: Mauritian Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Dr. Jyoti Jeetun, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and prosperous nation through Vision 2050, describing the initiative as a comprehensive long-term roadmap designed to guide the country’s economic and social transformation over the next 25 years.
Speaking on the national development strategy, Dr. Jeetun emphasized that Vision 2050 is more than a policy document, calling it a long-term national commitment to shape the future of Mauritius through sustainable economic growth, innovation, social inclusion and environmental resilience. She said the strategy seeks to restore long-term thinking at the heart of public policy while ensuring that development benefits all segments of society.
The Minister noted that the Vision 2050 process is being driven through extensive consultations with stakeholders from the public and private sectors, civil society, academia and local communities. These consultations are intended to foster a shared national vision and ensure broad participation in identifying priorities and opportunities for the country’s future development.
According to Dr. Jeetun, the roadmap focuses on strengthening economic resilience, enhancing governance, promoting innovation and digital transformation, developing human capital, and advancing environmental sustainability. It also seeks to position Mauritius as a competitive, high-income economy capable of adapting to global challenges while maintaining social cohesion and improving the quality of life for future generations.
She stressed that collaboration between government, businesses and citizens will be essential to successfully implement the long-term strategy, adding that the choices made today will determine the Mauritius inherited by future generations. Vision 2050, she said, represents a collective national endeavour aimed at creating lasting prosperity through forward-looking planning and inclusive development.
