Turkmenistan, Germany Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan Petra Dachtler on August 27, 2026, to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dachtler presented copies of her credentials to the Turkmen side. Meredov congratulated her on her appointment and wished her success in carrying out her diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan.
The two sides reviewed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-German relations, with particular attention to political and diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The officials noted that high-level contacts between the two countries provide an important impetus for further strengthening bilateral relations.
They also highlighted the effectiveness of Turkmenistan-Germany cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and the European Union, as well as through the Central Asia–Germany format.
The meeting underscored the longstanding and productive trade and economic ties between the two countries. In this regard, the active role of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy in promoting bilateral economic cooperation was noted.
The sides further exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation in culture, healthcare and education, reaffirming their interest in deepening mutually beneficial relations across various fields.
