Indonesia to Ensure Subsidised Goods Reach Public at Designated Prices: Prabowo

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has assured that state-subsidised goods will reach the public at their designated subsidised prices, warning against the resale of such goods for profit.

Addressing the Nahdlatul Ulama conference at Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, on Thursday, Prabowo said the government would strengthen measures to ensure that subsidies directly benefit the people.

He said enforcement would be reinforced through the establishment of tens of thousands of Red and White Village Cooperatives across Indonesia.

“Tens of thousands of Red and White Village Cooperatives will be operational soon. We will guarantee all state-subsidised goods reach the people at the lowest possible subsidised prices,” Prabowo said during the event, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

According to the president, the nationwide cooperative network is expected to become an important distribution channel for subsidised goods, helping ensure that government assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries.

Prabowo also highlighted several challenges facing Indonesia, including the effects of a strong El Niño pattern and geographical difficulties arising from the country’s vast archipelagic landscape.

Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in Indonesia’s ability to overcome them, citing the country’s considerable strength and abundant natural resources.

“Our nation is strong and is growing stronger,” Prabowo said, underscoring his optimism about Indonesia’s future development.
