UAE Minister: Tolerance Is Key to Sustainable Economic Growth and Investment Stability
Dubai, The Gulf Observer: UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan has described tolerance as a fundamental form of capital underpinning prosperity and an essential condition for sustainable economic growth and investment stability.
Addressing the opening session of the fourth edition of the “Governments as Incubators for Tolerance” conference in Dubai, Sheikh Nahyan said societies founded on mutual respect, human dignity and the rule of law create an environment conducive to attracting talent, investment and long-term economic development.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in cooperation with the AIM Congress and the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan that prosperity should be built on universal human values that uphold freedom, equality, dignity and rights for all.
He said the UAE’s experience demonstrates that tolerance and human fraternity can generate opportunities for economic and social progress while attracting global talent to live and work in a secure environment that respects human dignity and rewards merit.
He noted that the conference is being held in Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, whose leadership has helped establish the emirate as a global city characterised by cultural diversity and openness.
Addressing the relationship between tolerance and economic growth, Sheikh Nahyan said that while physical infrastructure facilitates the movement of goods and energy, tolerance provides an equally important foundation of “trust and confidence.”
He stressed that stability and social cohesion are particularly significant for investors, noting that capital can withstand many challenges but is ultimately discouraged by instability.
According to Sheikh Nahyan, societies based on mutual respect and the rule of law provide both talent and capital with strong incentives to remain, contribute and invest.
Against the backdrop of continuing global and regional uncertainty, he said the UAE remains committed to addressing challenges with determination and openness, thereby strengthening confidence among people who live and work in the country.
Sheikh Nahyan said the conference programme includes the signing of memoranda of understanding with governments and institutions that share the UAE’s vision, in addition to discussions on transforming social cohesion into economic value and using public policy to support trade, investment, tourism and the attraction of global talent.
Speaking at the conference, King Ogiame Atuwatse III, the 21st Olu of Warri in Nigeria, praised the UAE for demonstrating how values can be institutionalised through the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence.
He described the UAE’s approach as a notable model of governance, stressing that societies capable of living together are also capable of building together and contributing to shared prosperity.
The conference also brought together senior officials and experts who discussed economic integration, inclusive growth, international trade, and the role of ethics and inclusion in advancing sustainable economic development.
