Oman, Canada Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Developments

New York, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met with Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two ministers discussed ways to build on the understandings reached during their recent consultations and diplomatic exchanges, with a focus on strengthening bilateral relations.

They explored opportunities to utilize the Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations to establish a regular dialogue between the two countries. The discussions also covered prospects for cooperation in energy, critical minerals and higher education, as well as measures to promote trade and investment ties.

The meeting further addressed regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at supporting de-escalation and overcoming obstacles to political solutions.

The ministers emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring the free flow of international shipping and trade, in support of regional and international security, stability and cooperation.
