Putin Supports Volodin’s Nomination as Speaker of Russia’s State Duma

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed support for the nomination of Vyacheslav Volodin as speaker of the State Duma, the lower house of parliament, of the ninth convocation.

“I fully support Vyacheslav Volodin’s nomination for speaker of the State Duma of the next convocation,” Putin said during a meeting with leaders of political parties that secured seats in the recent parliamentary elections, according to media reports.

The Russian president noted Volodin’s performance as speaker of the eighth State Duma, saying he had effectively organized the chamber’s work and helped maintain a principled and business-oriented atmosphere.

Volodin has served as speaker of the State Duma since 2016.
