Dubai, The Gulf Observer: More than 600 female employees of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in a month-long programme marking Emirati Women’s Day, highlighting the UAE’s continued efforts to empower women and recognise their contributions to national development.

Organised by the DEWA Women’s Committee under the theme “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” the programme was held at DEWA’s new headquarters, Al Shera’a, as well as its branches in Al Ruwayyah, Warsan and Umm Hurair 2.

The programme featured a range of activities focused on women’s empowerment, wellbeing and national identity, while also recognising female employees whose contributions have supported DEWA’s achievements.

DEWA Managing Director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said that extending Emirati Women’s Day activities over an entire month reflected the UAE’s appreciation of Emirati women and their achievements across various areas of national development.

He also highlighted the legacy of women’s empowerment established by the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and continued under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation.”

Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee, said the programme was designed to combine women’s empowerment with appreciation for Emirati identity and heritage, while promoting women’s health, quality of life and professional achievements.

As part of the programme, DEWA participated as a strategic partner in the Emirati Women Forum 2026, organised by the Dubai Women Establishment. The forum was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of the Dubai Women Establishment.

Members of the DEWA Women’s Committee participated in panel discussions addressing the role of Emirati women in leadership and their contributions across key sectors.

The Dubai Women Establishment also organised a workshop titled “Leadership amid Challenges” in cooperation with Hult International Business School. The session was attended by 15 DEWA female employees and focused on different leadership approaches, enabling participants to address changing workplace challenges and demands with greater resilience and effectiveness.

Al Tayer also honoured a group of distinguished Emirati female employees for their contributions to the completion of Al Shera’a, DEWA’s new headquarters.

The ceremony included workshops and a video presentation highlighting the achievements and initiatives of the DEWA Women’s Committee.

The committee also organised various activities celebrating Emirati heritage and culture, including jewellery-making, traditional tray-making using pearls and other materials, flower arranging and Arabic calligraphy.

In addition, awareness workshops were conducted on mental and physical wellbeing and ways to enhance the quality of life of Emirati women.
