President Emomali Rahmon Inaugurates New Environmental Protection Directorate Building in Kulob

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, inaugurated a new building of the Environmental Protection Directorate in the Kulob region on October 4 and reviewed its facilities and working conditions.
The facility was constructed to mark the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence with the support of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of Tajikistan. The construction was carried out by Dilafruz Limited Liability Company over nearly five years, with the involvement of 45 local workers.
The newly constructed building houses departments and divisions of the Directorate, the Committee’s Digitalisation and Innovation Centre in the Kulob region, a 110-seat conference hall, 25 offices equipped with modern technical facilities, a laboratory, a library, a guesthouse with six bedrooms, a dining facility and other auxiliary premises.
All facilities have been furnished and equipped with modern specialised equipment to provide employees with appropriate working conditions.
President Emomali Rahmon described the construction of the modern facility in central Kulob as an important step for the development of environmental protection activities. He instructed relevant officials to take additional measures to ensure high-quality monitoring, strengthen environmental protection and implement the State Programme for Greening of the Republic of Tajikistan through 2040.
Solar panels with a capacity of 36 kilowatts have been installed on the roof of the building, providing the facility with a reliable supply of electricity throughout the year.
Previously, the Directorate operated from a building constructed in the 1950s, whose working conditions no longer met modern requirements. With the commissioning of the new facility, nearly 50 employees of the Directorate will continue their activities in improved working conditions and contribute their knowledge and expertise to the development of the sector.
During the visit, the President was also presented with new digitalisation programmes developed by the Committee for Environmental Protection as part of the country’s “Years of Development of the Digital Economy and Innovation” for 2025-2030.
Officials presented the newly developed Nazorat, Ecomeп, Contact Centre, Atmospheric Monitoring Station and Digitalisation of Land of Tajikistan with Artificial Intelligence programmes. The initiatives are designed to improve environmental monitoring and significantly facilitate services for specialists and citizens.
Through the electronic Nazorat programme, inspectors and relevant officials can use geolocation to identify the location of detected environmental violations, record the necessary information electronically and prepare electronic inspection protocols.
The Ecomeп programme serves as a unified environmental information database, bringing together important sectoral data in an organised and digital format.
Meanwhile, the Contact Centre, operating through the short number 2122, enables citizens to report suspected violations of environmental protection legislation and submit relevant appeals.
The digitalisation initiatives represent an important step in modernising the activities of the Committee for Environmental Protection, improving environmental information management, enhancing transparency and expanding digital public services in the sector.
