Saudi Arabia Ranks First Globally in RPKI Route Origin Validation with 99.8% Activation Rate

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has ranked first globally in the activation of Resource Public Key Infrastructure Route Origin Validation (RPKI RoV), achieving an activation rate of 99.8 percent, according to the latest measurements by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC).
RPKI RoV is a security technology designed to verify whether internet traffic is being routed through authorised networks. It helps reduce the risk of malicious or unauthorised route announcements that could divert internet traffic to unintended destinations, strengthening the security and reliability of online services.
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) stated that the Kingdom’s leading position reflects the effectiveness of efforts by the communications sector to adopt international best practices and enhance the security and reliability of its internet infrastructure.
The achievement also reinforces Saudi Arabia’s competitive position in global digital infrastructure indicators and demonstrates progress towards building a more mature, secure and reliable internet ecosystem.
The Kingdom has also secured a place among the world’s top five countries in the implementation of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), while ranking first among G20 countries in the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validation indicator.
These accomplishments highlight the continued development of Saudi Arabia’s internet infrastructure, supported by coordinated efforts across the communications and technology sector.
The CST emphasised that progress across these indicators reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to improving digital infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity and ensuring efficient, secure and reliable connectivity in line with international standards.
