Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Environment Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate implemented a cultivation campaign for 2,000 wild plants, as part of the initiative to plant 10 million wild trees.

Fatima Al Muhaijri, an educator in the Environment Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, said: “The campaign comes in cooperation with the Liquefied Natural Gas Development Corporation, as part of the initiative to plant 10 million wild trees out of interest in Omani wild plants.””The campaign aims to increase the green area in the environment and positively affect mental and physical health, as it helps reduce pollution and the occurrence of global warming through the work of agriculture to enhance oxygen levels as a result of photosynthesis and enhance the principles of ecological balance, ” Al Muhaijri added.

Al Muhaijri explained that the campaign works to promote the principles of ecological balance as a result of the dependence of many animals and birds on agricultural residues to provide them with food instead of burning them and causing pollution to the soil and air.
