Turkmen athletes win 15 Medals at World Kurash Championship

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The XIV World Kurash Championship was triumphantly completed at the Martial Arts Sports Complex of the capital’s Olympic Campus in Ashgabat. Turkmen athletes won 15 medals at the end of the World Championship.

Turkmen athletes won 7 medals among men, eight (8) medals among women and 15 medals in 15 weight categories based on the two-day competition’s results, the Turkmen official media reports.

During the initial two days of the championship, Turkmen athletes successfully secured medals. Dinara Rozykulova, Maria Lohova, Vepa Avlyakuliev, Sabina Kadyrova and Dayanch Omirov emerged as gold medalists. Ayshirin Haydarova, Aynur Amanova, Sanjar Abdyrahmanov, Shatlyk Jumaniyazov, Jahan Muhammedova and Sabina Agajanova displayed exceptional performances, earning silver medals. Gulshat Annaeva, Ruslan Eskerov, Sapa Sapaev and Dovlet Hemrakulyev also demonstrated their skills and claimed bronze medals.

The competition, held in Ashgabat, gathered sports representatives from four regions of the world – Asia, Africa, Europe, South and North America.

According to the message, the team won one silver and two bronze medals in the previous World Championships in India. The Turkmenistan national team won five (5 ) gold, six (6) silver and four (4) bronze medals in this competition.

Kurash is a traditional belt wrestling of Turkic peoples originating in Central Asia. At present, the International Kurash Association (IKA), founded on September 6, 1998, includes 118 national federations from Asia (32), Africa (22), Europe (33), North and South America (22) and Oceania (9).
