Sheikha Latifa Attends Closing Ceremony of Dhai Dubai Art Festival Celebrating Creative Synergy

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of the Dubai Council, graced the closing ceremony of the inaugural Dhai Dubai Art festival. The Emirati-led light art festival, hosted by Expo City Dubai in collaboration with AGB Creative and with the support of Dubai Culture, showcased a spectacular array of light installations, cultural activities, workshops, and insightful discussions over its 10-day duration, concluding on 4th February.

During her visit to Dhai Dubai, Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed engaged with Emirati artists and designers, acknowledging their creative prowess and global impact across artistic disciplines. She praised the festival for fostering a constructive partnership that celebrates global success while nurturing local creativity. The event showcased Dubai and the UAE’s rich cultural and creative identity, facilitating dialogue and supporting Emirati talent in artistic expression through the medium of light.

Sheikha Latifa expressed her admiration for the mesmerizing light installations and interactive art that blended traditional and contemporary creativity. The festival successfully brought together artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds, celebrating cultural diversity and fostering collaboration among global creators.

Announcing the scheduling of the second edition of Dhai Dubai from 26th January to 4th February 2025, Sheikha Latifa emphasized the festival’s commitment to charting new creative journeys. The upcoming edition aims to provide artists and designers with a platform to experiment with innovative mediums, present groundbreaking ideas, and exhibit their work before an international audience.

This year’s Dhai Dubai featured contributions from leading Emirati talents in art and design, including Matar bin Lahej, Dr. Najat Makki, Dr. Mohamed Yousef, Abdulla Almulla, Maitha Hamdan, Khalid Al Shafar, and Reem Al Ghaith. Al Wasl Plaza’s dome transformed into a mesmerizing canvas, reflecting Dubai’s cultural diversity through immersive light displays.

In a spirit of humanitarianism, the festival partnered with ‘Liter of Light,’ a global initiative dedicated to providing solar-powered lighting to communities without access to electricity. This collaboration extended support to the Agusan Marsh’s floating villages in the Philippines, inviting festival attendees to contribute financially to expanding the initiative’s reach to more communities in the Philippines, Kenya, Cameroon, and India. The success of Dhai Dubai’s debut edition highlights its role as a cultural beacon, further solidifying Dubai’s standing as a global hub for artistic innovation and expression.
