Saudi Arabia to Host Global Symposium for Regulators 2025
Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), has been selected to host the prestigious Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) 2025 event in Riyadh. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) announced the selection on Wednesday.
Confirming the announcement, the CST stated: “The ITU selected Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, to host the upcoming GSR 2025 in Riyadh.”
Since its inception in 2000, the GSR has been a key annual event targeting senior officials, policymakers, regulators, and industry players from around the world. It brings together heads of national ICT regulatory authorities and leaders from the private sector across more than 193 countries. The symposium serves as an international platform to discuss policies and digital regulations.
The CST emphasized that the selection of the Kingdom to host the event reflects the international community’s confidence in Saudi Arabia’s active role and contributions in achieving the goals set by the ITU. “This selection reflects the global recognition of Saudi Arabia’s pioneering role and contributions in achieving the ITU goals toward the ICT sector,” the CST stated on its official website.
Organized by the ITU, the symposium gathers ministers and heads of national bodies regulating the communications and technology sector. It represents the largest international event held annually for ICT regulators, focusing on digital field workers from 193 countries and discussing prominent challenges and solutions to issues of digital policies and regulations at the international level.
