Algeria Condemns Attack on Saudi Vessel in Red Sea, Reaffirms Solidarity with Kingdom
Algiers, The Gulf Observer: Algeria has strongly condemned the attack on a Saudi vessel navigating the Red Sea, describing the incident as a blatant violation of international law governing freedom of navigation in international waterways and a direct threat to regional peace and stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Algeria denounced the assault and expressed its unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of threats to its security and sovereignty.
The Algerian government emphasized that such attacks undermine the principles of international law, jeopardize the safety of maritime navigation, and pose serious risks to the security and stability of the wider region. It stressed the importance of safeguarding international shipping lanes and ensuring the free movement of commercial vessels through vital maritime corridors.
Algeria also reiterated its firm support for Saudi Arabia and affirmed its backing for all measures undertaken by the Kingdom to protect its territorial integrity, national security, and maritime interests in accordance with international law.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Red Sea following the reported attack on a Saudi oil tanker, an incident that has raised international concerns over the security of one of the world’s most strategic maritime routes.
