Algiers, The Gulf Observer: Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Syed Ahmed Ataf, on Wednesday received the European Union’s Commissioner, Dubravka Šuica, who is currently on an official visit to Algeria.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of the multifaceted partnership between European Union and Algeria. Both sides explored ways to enhance momentum, dynamism, and balance in bilateral cooperation, in line with the objectives of the “Pact for the Mediterranean” launched in November 2025.

Discussions particularly focused on key sectors including investment, trade, energy, green economy, higher education, and mobility of people.

The two officials also exchanged views on the development and security challenges facing the Mediterranean region, underlining the importance of strengthening joint coordination to ensure effective and sustainable responses to these issues.
