Azerbaijan-Iran Rasht-Astara railway construction to start next month
Baku, The Gulf Observer: The construction of the Rasht-Astara railway between Azerbaijan and Iran will begin next month, said Shahriyar Efendizadeh, the deputy minister of road and urban development of Iran, according to the reports of Mehr News Agency.
The deputy minister noted that according to the agreement reached, they plan to start the implementation of the project at the beginning of 2024, half a month later. Shahriyar Efendizadeh emphasized that this 162 km long railway line is the most important railway line project for Iran next year.
The Rasht-Astara railway is part of the Astara-Rasht-Qazvin transport corridor, which will connect the railways of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia. The Astara-Rasht-Qazvin transport corridor is a part of the North-South Transport Corridor, which will integrate the transport communications of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and India.
