Prefabricated

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: The People’s Republic of China has delivered its 11th batch of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar in the form of modular (prefabricated) houses, aimed at supporting recovery efforts in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in the Mandalay Region.

A total of 340 units, collectively weighing 1,355 tonnes, arrived at Thilawa (MITT) Port at 4:35 PM on 2 May aboard the vessel MV Dkilios.

The donation was officially handed over by Mr. Ouyang Daobing, Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, to Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein during a formal ceremony held at the port.

Following the handover, the Yangon Region chief minister and his accompanying delegation observed the unloading process, which involved transferring the prefabricated units from the ship to trucks using cranes. The team also inspected the logistics operation involving the movement of these units from trucks to Myanma Railways wagons, which will carry the houses to earthquake-affected regions.

On-site coordination was carried out to ensure the efficient and timely transportation of the relief materials, with officials working to address logistical and infrastructure needs.

This latest contribution highlights China’s continued support and solidarity with Myanmar during natural disasters, reinforcing bilateral ties and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
