President Emomali Rahmon Chairs Tajik Government Meeting on Environmental and Economic Priorities

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: A meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held on September 30 under the chairmanship of President of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Government and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon.

The meeting began with consideration of the draft State Programme for the Development of Environmental Education and Culture of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026–2030. A report on the draft programme was presented by Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection Bahodur Sheralizoda.

It was emphasized that the programme is aimed at increasing environmental literacy among different segments of the population, fostering sustainable environmental values and responsible behaviour among citizens, encouraging young people, public organizations and enterprises to actively participate in environmental initiatives, and strengthening public awareness activities.

The meeting noted that the draft programme also incorporates measures to promote environmental culture, which is considered one of the priority areas in environmental protection.

President Emomali Rahmon instructed the relevant authorities to approve the State Programme for the Development of Environmental Education and Culture of the Population for 2026–2030, together with an action plan for its implementation. Relevant agencies were also instructed to submit annual reports to the Government on the results of the programme’s implementation by March 1.

The government meeting subsequently considered draft resolutions on a number of issues, including the Action Plan for the Programme for the Development of Cinematography of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023–2027 for 2027, as well as the forecast of key macroeconomic indicators of Tajikistan for 2028 and their main parameters for 2029–2030.

Following discussions, President Emomali Rahmon issued instructions and recommendations to the relevant ministries and government agencies, as well as the executive authorities of the country’s regions, cities and districts, concerning the practical implementation of the approved programme targets.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President urged members of the Government and heads of other state institutions to ensure the mandatory and timely implementation of instructions issued at previous government meetings, as well as decisions and tasks considered during the current session.

The President also assigned specific tasks concerning a number of pressing issues, including comprehensive preparations for the 2026–2027 winter season, the creation of adequate reserves of fuel and food, the completion of the remaining cotton, fruit and vegetable harvests, the autumn sowing of grain crops, and the continuation and expansion of development, improvement and construction activities across the country.
