Iran Condemns Israeli Airstrike Killing Journalists in Gaza

Gaza

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei on Monday strongly condemned Israel’s deadly attack on journalists in Gaza, describing it as a “deliberate airstrike” aimed at silencing coverage of the conflict.

In a statement posted on his X account, Baghaei wrote: “A press badge is no shield against genocidal war criminals who fear the world witnessing their atrocities.” He said the targeting of journalists demonstrates the Israeli regime’s intent to prevent the truth about its ongoing war crimes in the Gaza Strip from reaching the world.

Baghaei reported that five more journalists — including Al Jazeera’s entire team in Gaza — were killed “in cold blood” when Israeli fighter jets struck their tent in Gaza City. He accused Israel and the United States of committing atrocities against civilians, including massacres, starvation, and “food traps” targeting Gazans.

Criticizing those who have refrained from condemning the attack, Baghaei called for urgent international action to halt Israel’s war crimes. “Strong condemnation is the bare minimum for any decent human being, but the world must act immediately to stop this harrowing genocide and hold the criminals accountable. Indifference and inaction are complicity in Israel’s crimes,” he said.

Palestinian media reported that the strike occurred on Sunday night outside the main entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, killing five media professionals, including two reporters from Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV network.

According to Gaza’s government information office, this incident has brought the total number of journalists killed since the start of the conflict to 237.
