Iranian Presidential Complex holds Imam Hossein (AS) mourning ceremony
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Ebrahim Raisi has hosted a ceremony marking the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hossein (AS), at the Presidential Administration Headquarters in the capital Tehran.
The ceremony was held at Salman Farsi Mosque of the presidential complex on Wednesday night on the eve of Tasu’a. That’s the ninth day of the lunar calendar month of Muharram, preceding Ashura when Imam Hossein and his 72 companions were martyred by their time tyrant Yazid during the battle of Karbala 14 centuries ago.
Cabinet ministers and staff of the presidential office, as well as groups of people, attended the mourning ceremony hosted by the Iranian president.
A similar ceremony was also held in the same venue earlier on Wednesday. Addressing participants there, Raisi hailed Imam Hossein for his efforts to fight corruption and tyranny.
