Japan to reopen its ports to International Cruise ships from January 2023

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Japan will reopen its ports to international cruise ships from January 2023 after they were closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Japanese authorities announced that they plan to reopen their ports to international cruise ships in line with the easing of border restrictions on tourists coming to Japan.
The Ministry of Tourism confirmed that it will allow ships to come to it as long as it adheres to the guidelines for preventing infection with COVID-19 and methods of responding to the outbreak. In the event of a suspected outbreak of COVID-19, the crew must conduct the necessary tests and isolation measures and inform the quarantine officials before the ship docks. Noting that a cruise ship is scheduled to leave Yokohama next month and return in January.

It is noteworthy that international cruise ships have not docked in Japan since the arrival of a ship in Yokohama, near Tokyo, in February 2020, carrying passengers infected with the COVID-19.
