Kazakhstan and France Discuss Strengthening Investment Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantyrov, met with the Ambassador of France to Kazakhstan, Sylvain Guiaugue, to further advance bilateral investment cooperation, according to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry. The meeting, which took place in Astana, focused on exploring new avenues for collaboration and expanding the activities of French enterprises already operating in Kazakhstan.

Kuantyrov highlighted the strategic role France plays as one of Kazakhstan’s key foreign investors, with over $19 billion in total investments since 2005. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s interest in deepening cooperation with France across a range of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and renewable energy, where joint projects could lead to significant advancements.

Ambassador Guiaugue reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Kazakhstan’s efforts in diversifying its economy, noting the increasing number of French projects in the country’s investment portfolio. French companies such as Alstom, Total Energies, Air Liquide, and Lactalis are already making important contributions to Kazakhstan’s industrial, energy, and agricultural sectors.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to continue collaborative efforts to further strengthen investment cooperation, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes in the years to come.
