Greenpeace Removes Macron Wax Figure from Paris Museum in Protest Against France-Russia Trade Ties

Paris, The Gulf Observer: Greenpeace activists on Monday removed a wax figure of French President Emmanuel Macron from the Grévin Museum in Paris and placed it in front of the Russian Embassy as part of a pro-Ukraine demonstration, according to local authorities and statements from the environmental organization.
A police source reported that three individuals—two women and a man—entered the museum disguised as tourists. Once inside, they changed into worker uniforms and exited through an emergency door with the €40,000 wax figure, concealed under a blanket.
The statue was subsequently positioned in front of the Russian Embassy in Paris, accompanied by banners calling on France to halt its imports of Russian gas and fertilizers.
“This action aims to denounce France’s contradictory stance,” said Jean-François Julliard, Executive Director of Greenpeace France. “Emmanuel Macron embodies this double discourse: he proclaims support for Ukraine, yet permits French companies to maintain commercial ties with Russia.”
Julliard further emphasized that President Macron holds particular responsibility within the European Union and should set the example by ending trade agreements with Moscow. “He should be the first among European leaders to take decisive action,” he added.
France has consistently positioned itself as one of Ukraine’s staunchest supporters since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. President Macron has played a central role in advocating for a unified European response in support of Kyiv, especially in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics and evolving U.S. foreign policy.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and the wax figure has since been recovered. The Grévin Museum has yet to issue an official statement regarding the security breach.
