Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan Plan Joint Military Exercises in 2024
Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan is set to conduct two military exercises with Azerbaijan in the year 2024. The Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan has released details of the planned exercises for the Armed Forces this year, outlining the joint initiatives with Azerbaijan, as reported by Azerbaijani media sources.
The first of the planned exercises is the “Birlestik-2024” command and staff exercises, which will see the active participation of units from the armed forces of Azerbaijan, along with contributions from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. This exercise aims to promote combat interoperability, improve overall management capabilities, exchange valuable military experience, and enhance the professionalism of military personnel during collaborative operations.
The second exercise involves joint naval maneuvers of the Caspian littoral states, namely Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia. These naval exercises are designed to bolster maritime cooperation and coordination among the Caspian countries, fostering a secure and stable environment in the region.
The “Бірлестік-2024” (“Unity-2024”) tactical exercises, scheduled for July 2024 in Kazakhstan, will specifically involve marines and special forces from both countries’ Naval Forces. The exercises aim to strengthen the operational synergy between the naval units, emphasizing combat effectiveness and readiness.
These joint military initiatives underscore the commitment of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to fostering regional security, promoting mutual understanding, and enhancing the capabilities of their armed forces. The exercises are expected to contribute to the shared goals of maintaining peace and stability in the broader Central Asian region.
