Astana, The Gulf Observer: The square in the central park of Astana (Kazakhstan) will be named after Queen Elizabeth II, KazTAG reports with reference to the press service of the Senate.

“Maulen Ashimbaev attended a funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on behalf of King Charles III in honor of heads of state, government, international organizations and members of the royal families of Europe, the Middle East and Asia. During the conversation with King Charles III, the Chairman of the Senate personally expressed condolences on behalf of the President, and informed that one of the squares in the central park of Astana will be named after Queen Elizabeth II in near future by decision of the President,” the press service noted.

Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbaev attended Queen’s lying-in-state ceremony in Westminster Hall and signed the official book of condolences on behalf of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh delegation, which also included Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko, took part in the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on September 19, held at Westminster Abbey.

Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8. She was 96 years old. She ruled the kingdom for 70 years. About 500 high-ranking guests gathered in the British capital from all over the world to pay tribute on September 19. All the living prime ministers of the UK came to the Queen’s last reception.
