Myanmar and China Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Meeting Between Foreign Ministers

Nay Pyi Taw, The Gulf Observer: U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, welcomed Ms. Ma Jia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting focused on further consolidating the longstanding Pauk-Phaw (fraternal) relations between the two countries, as well as enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors.

One of the key topics discussed was the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening the historic ties between the two nations while looking ahead to continued partnership in regional and international cooperation.

U Than Swe expressed his appreciation for China’s humanitarian efforts, including the provision of medical aid, rescue teams, and support for the affected families and communities in Myanmar following the recent devastating earthquake. The two sides discussed the ongoing rehabilitation and resettlement programs in the affected regions, with a focus on ensuring the well-being of the people and long-term recovery.

The discussion also touched on the importance of maintaining peace and stability, particularly in the Myanmar-China border area. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing law enforcement and security cooperation to ensure a peaceful and stable border region.

Furthermore, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude for China’s continuous constructive support in Myanmar’s development endeavors, particularly in economic and infrastructural projects. Both leaders highlighted the shared commitment to furthering bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

Looking to the future, U Than Swe and Ms. Ma Jia underscored the importance of closer collaboration in both regional and international forums.
