Oman

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman will observe its 2026 National Day holiday on Wednesday and Thursday, November 25 and 26, according to the Ministry of Labour’s annual announcement outlining official national and religious holidays.

The two-day holiday is expected to provide citizens and residents with an extended break, coinciding with the weekend and offering an opportunity for family gatherings and national celebrations.

The Council of Ministers has approved the advance announcement of official holiday dates at the beginning of each Gregorian year. The measure aims to help public and private sector institutions plan their work schedules and activities while avoiding conflicts with local and international events.

According to the Ministry of Labour’s statement, the official holiday calendar for 2026 includes several national and religious occasions. These include His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day on Thursday, January 15; Al Isra’a Wal Mi’raj on Sunday, January 18; the Hijri New Year on Thursday, June 18; and the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Thursday, August 27.

The dates for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha will be announced separately in accordance with the declarations of the Main Committee for Determining the Beginnings of Hijri Months.

Oman’s National Day is marked by celebrations and events across the country’s governorates, highlighting the Sultanate’s rich heritage, cultural traditions, national identity and development achievements.

The annual occasion also provides an opportunity to reflect on Oman’s progress and reaffirm national pride, unity and commitment to the country’s continued prosperity.
