President Aliyev, German Business Leaders Discuss Expanding Economic Cooperation
Berlin, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Chairman of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms in Berlin on Monday to discuss strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation across a range of strategic sectors.
During the meeting, both sides noted the growing interest among Azerbaijani and German businesses and companies in enhancing bilateral cooperation and explored ways to institutionalize joint economic activities to further boost commercial partnerships.
The discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in both traditional and renewable energy sectors, as well as connectivity, transport, and logistics, including the development of the Middle Corridor as a key regional trade route.
The two sides also reviewed prospects for cooperation in agriculture, recalling Azerbaijan’s recently adopted State Program for agricultural development. They highlighted the potential for introducing advanced German technologies into Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector, particularly in the field of smart agriculture, to enhance productivity and sustainability.
In addition, President Aliyev and Michael Harms discussed ways to capitalize on Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest aimed at deepening bilateral economic cooperation.
The meeting underscored the commitment of Azerbaijan and Germany to strengthening business partnerships and exploring new avenues for investment, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
