President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates Medical Faculty and Clinic at Garabagh University in Khankendi

Khankendi, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration ceremony of the Clinic building of Garabagh University and the academic building of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Khankendi on September 14.
During the visit, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Rector of Garabagh University Shahin Bayramov, and Head of the Garabagh University Clinic and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Samir Babayev briefed the head of state on the newly established facilities.
Beginning with the upcoming academic year, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will officially commence operations. The modern teaching building is designed to meet contemporary educational standards and is equipped with 10 lecture rooms, nine auditoriums, three laboratories, work and examination rooms, recreation spaces, a library, and briefing halls. Specialized facilities such as microbiology and histology laboratories, a cell culture unit, and administrative offices have also been established.
The faculty will offer a six-year medical program and a four-year nursing program, designed in collaboration with local and international experts to align with global best practices. A modern educational model will enable students to integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on training at the Garabagh University Clinic. Students will also have opportunities to engage in research and cultivate leadership skills. A unique feature of the faculty is the inclusion of an arts program as an elective, aimed at fostering creativity, teamwork, and communication skills.
President Aliyev also toured the Garabagh University Clinic, which was founded under a presidential decree issued in February of this year. The clinic comprises 23 consultation rooms, laboratories, an X-ray room, an emergency department, and advanced diagnostic facilities including MRI, CT, and angiography units. Within a short timeframe, a modern infrastructure for medical education and healthcare delivery has been established at the university.
The clinic is expected to play a pivotal role in training highly qualified medical professionals, advancing scientific research, and providing healthcare services to the region’s population. It will also function as a center for academic instruction, research activities, and medical practice.
The establishment of the Garabagh University Clinic and the launch of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences mark a major milestone in Azerbaijan’s efforts to develop world-class medical education. These initiatives are expected to enhance the academic reputation and international standing of Garabagh University, strengthen Azerbaijan’s medical science, and increase the institution’s appeal to foreign students.
