President Ilham Aliyev Receives Credentials of Colombia’s Ambassador, Calls for Expanded Bilateral Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received Nelsy Raquel Munar Jaramillo, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to Azerbaijan, on April 14, during which the ambassador presented her credentials.
Following the official ceremony, President Aliyev held a meeting with Ambassador Munar Jaramillo, noting that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, bilateral relations have developed at a satisfactory level. He emphasized the importance of further expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the need to deepen ties in economic, investment, and tourism fields, building on the strong political relations already in place. He also wished the ambassador success in her diplomatic mission.
Ambassador Munar Jaramillo expressed her honor at being appointed as Colombia’s first female ambassador to Azerbaijan and affirmed her commitment to strengthening political dialogue and identifying new avenues for bilateral cooperation. She also welcomed ongoing cultural initiatives, including Spanish language courses in Azerbaijan, which have seen active participation from local students and professionals.
During the meeting, both sides recalled the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the application of the ASAN Khidmet model in Colombia last year, describing it as a positive step in bilateral collaboration.
The discussions also covered prospects for cooperation in agriculture, demining, education, and cultural exchange. The two sides praised their effective collaboration within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, highlighting mutual support on multilateral platforms.
Both parties further exchanged views on enhancing interparliamentary ties, increasing reciprocal visits, and strengthening overall engagement between the two countries.
