President Jokowi Highlights Success of National Health Insurance Program in Tebing Tinggi
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: In a recent dialogue with beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance-Healthy Indonesia Card (JKN-KIS) Program in Tebing Tinggi city, North Sumatra province, President Joko Widodo expressed gratitude for the program’s impact on the accessibility of critical medical services. The President emphasized that the JKN-KIS Program plays a crucial role in alleviating financial burdens related to treatments such as dialysis and heart disease.
During the dialogue held on Wednesday, President Jokowi spoke directly with beneficiaries, inquiring about their experiences with the Healthy Indonesia Card. He stated, “We should be grateful for the Healthy Indonesia Card. Have any of you used the card to get treatments for heart diseases and dialysis? All the services are free of charge, right?”
President Jokowi highlighted the government’s commitment to healthcare by revealing that Rp46 trillion (approximately US$3 billion) from the State Budget has been allocated to cover the medical treatment costs of the people. He underscored the program’s significance, noting that without it, individuals would face substantial financial burdens for critical medical treatments.
Farida Nasution, a beneficiary of the program, shared her positive experience, stating that she underwent surgery free of charge using the Healthy Indonesia Card. “I had lymph node surgery at Pamela Hospital. The surgery was completely free of charge,” she said.
Sumiati, another local beneficiary, informed the President that the health program enabled her to undergo an eye examination and receive free glasses.
President Jokowi also announced plans for the expansion of Tebing Tinggi’s Regional Public Hospital, ensuring comprehensive health services and advanced equipment for the local population. He stated, “The Ministry of Health will distribute additional equipment (to the hospital) this year.”
Accompanying President Widodo during the activity were Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono, acting governor of North Sumatra Hassanudin, acting mayor of Tebing Tinggi Syarmadani, and president director of the Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) for health Ali Ghufron Mukti.
The President’s engagement with beneficiaries and commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure reflects the government’s dedication to providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the Indonesian people.
