President To Lam Visits Hồ Chí Minh School in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, The Gulf Observer: On Tuesday, General Secretary of the Communist Party and State President of Vietnam, To Lam, visited Inter-Level School No. 14, named after the late Vietnamese leader President Hồ Chí Minh, in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar as part of his ongoing state visit to Mongolia. The visit highlights the enduring diplomatic and educational ties between Vietnam and Mongolia.

During his visit, President Lam laid flowers at the statue of President Hồ Chí Minh and toured the memorial area on the school campus, which pays homage to the revered Vietnamese leader. In a heartfelt message inscribed in the school’s memory book, President Lam expressed his delight at visiting one of Mongolia’s leading national schools, which has played a pivotal role in training the country’s future leaders and talents.

President Lam emphasized his hope that the teachers and students of the school will continue to uphold their prestigious traditions, fulfilling their responsibilities and contributing to Mongolia’s future while strengthening the bonds of friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia. He noted that the school’s dedication to educating its students about Vietnamese culture and honoring President Hồ Chí Minh’s legacy serves as a symbol of the special relationship between the two nations.

The school, which currently educates approximately 6,000 students with the support of 238 teachers and staff, is renowned for its focus on both Mongolian traditions and Vietnamese culture. As part of the visit, President Lam and the accompanying Vietnamese delegation were treated to art performances celebrating Mongolian heritage and honoring the life of President Hồ Chí Minh. In conjunction with the visit, the school also launched a painting, photo, and literature contest centered on the theme of exploring Vietnam.

Expressing his gratitude, Principal Gungaajav thanked the Vietnamese people for their continued support in improving the school’s educational environment. He noted that this support has been instrumental in fostering a strong connection between the two nations.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam-Mongolia diplomatic relations and the 75th anniversary of the school’s founding, President Lam remarked on the historical significance of President Hồ Chí Minh’s contributions to global peace, national independence, and social progress. President Hồ Chí Minh’s official visit to Mongolia in 1955 laid the foundation for the enduring friendship between the two nations, promoting decades of solidarity and cooperation.

In his closing remarks, President Lam expressed his pride in the school’s role as a leading institution of modern education in Mongolia, training numerous leaders and talents. He conveyed his best wishes for the school’s continued success in its mission to foster prosperity and happiness for Mongolia and its people.

As a gesture of support, President Lam presented $50,000 from the Vietnamese Party and State to assist the school in upgrading its teaching equipment for the upcoming 2024–2025 academic year. Additionally, the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Hanoi provided gifts, while the Vietnam National University – Hanoi awarded scholarships to the school.

Founded in 1949, Inter-Level School No. 14 has been a key institution in Mongolia’s educational system. In 1980, on the 90th anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh’s birth, the school was named in his honor, commemorating the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.
