President Xi Urges Hunan Province to Lead in Reform and Innovation

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: During a comprehensive inspection tour spanning from Monday to Thursday, President Xi Jinping, called upon central China’s Hunan Province to steadfastly commit to reform and innovation, advocating for a pragmatic approach to carve its unique path in advancing Chinese modernization.

President Xi emphasized the pivotal role of Hunan in fostering advanced manufacturing industries and becoming a center for scientific and technological innovation with core competitiveness. He urged the province to maintain its position as a trailblazer in the reform and opening up of China’s inland regions.

Commencing his visit at Hunan First Normal University in Changsha City on Monday, President Xi toured an exhibition commemorating Mao Zedong’s youth, engaging in discussions with students and faculty. Stressing the significance of educational institutions in cultivating virtue and national service among students, Xi underlined the crucial role of schools in shaping the future of the nation.

Subsequently, President Xi inspected a Chinese-German joint venture focusing on battery materials, emphasizing the imperative of scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development for enterprise prosperity.

Reaffirming China’s commitment to global integration, Xi pledged to further open doors to foreign investment, inviting more international companies to contribute to China’s development.

Continuing his visit on Tuesday, President Xi explored a cultural street in Changde, highlighting the richness of China’s traditional cultures and their contribution to the nation’s heritage.

Acknowledging Hunan’s significance as one of China’s major grain-producing provinces, President Xi stressed the paramount importance of food security, advocating for increased grain production and quality improvement to support the nation’s population.

In his discussions with provincial Party and government authorities on Thursday, President Xi commended Hunan’s achievements and outlined key directives for future development. Emphasizing the need to bolster enterprise leadership in scientific and technological innovation, Xi advocated for deeper integration across innovation, industry, capital, and human resources chains.

President Xi urged for the acceleration of reforms aimed at fostering a new pattern of development and achieving high-quality growth, underscoring their role in driving economic and social progress.

Additionally, Xi called upon Hunan to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, prioritize the development of high-standard pilot free trade zones, and enhance economic ties with Africa.
