Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has reiterated its firm and non-negotiable stance on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, emphasizing that this position remains steadfast and is not subject to political bargaining.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored the Kingdom’s deep-rooted commitment to Palestinian statehood, reaffirming that diplomatic relations with Israel will not be established unless a sovereign Palestinian state is recognized, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“This firm stance was explicitly affirmed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman during his address at the opening session of the ninth Shoura Council on September 18, 2024,” the statement noted. The Crown Prince further reinforced this position at the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2024, where he called for an end to Israeli occupation, the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, and full United Nations membership for Palestine.
Saudi Arabia also strongly condemned Israeli settlement expansion, land annexation, and any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homeland. The Kingdom urged the international community to take decisive action to alleviate humanitarian suffering in Palestine and uphold the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights.
The statement concluded by affirming that Saudi Arabia’s principled stance on the Palestinian cause is not open to negotiation and remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy, a position made clear to both the previous and current U.S. administrations.
