Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Envoy for Climate Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir led the delegation representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the inauguration ceremony of Pope Leo XIV, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday.
The papal inauguration mass, held at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, marked the official commencement of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy. The pope arrived in the iconic white Popemobile, warmly greeting the assembled crowds as he began his first formal address and blessings as head of the Catholic Church.
Also in attendance at the mass was the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Italy, Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz.
Saudi Arabia’s participation in the historic religious event underscores the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to promote interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence across religious and cultural boundaries.
