Shavkat Mirziyoyev Participates in Central Asia-Germany Business Meeting in Astana
Astana, The Gulf Observer: As part of his official visit to Astana, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in a joint meeting of Central Asian leaders with executives from leading German companies and banks. The high-profile event also featured the presence of German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, along with the Presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan’s Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajikistan’s Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmenistan’s Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The German delegation included key figures from renowned companies and financial institutions such as KNAUF, Gunter Papenburg, CLAAS, Siemens Energy, Aurubis, Siemens Healthineers, Herrenknecht, DB Engineering & Consulting, Svevind Energy, and HMS Bergbau.
President Mirziyoyev, warmly greeting the participants, highlighted the successful outcomes of his prior meeting with German business leaders in Samarkand, held the day before. He noted the increasing mutual interest in fostering deeper cooperation, especially in implementing joint projects that incorporate Germany’s advanced practices and innovative technologies.
In his address, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the growing importance of strengthening business ties with Germany, particularly in the context of Central Asia’s regional economic cooperation. He underscored that the region has become a dynamic and growing market, demonstrating robust economic development driven by the opening of borders and the expansion of trade, investment, and tourism.
The Uzbek President stressed the need to boost Central Asia’s investment appeal, proposing the establishment of a permanent platform for dialogue—the Council of Investors and Entrepreneurs “Central Asia and Germany.” The inaugural meeting of this council is set to take place during the Tashkent Investment Forum in the spring of next year.
Additionally, President Mirziyoyev proposed drafting a roadmap to expand investment and technological partnerships between Central Asia and Germany. This roadmap would include mechanisms for state-supported investment flows, as well as financial backing for German companies operating in the region.
Highlighting the progress in regional economic integration, President Mirziyoyev pointed to the creation of special economic zones, industrial hubs, and large-scale projects in green energy, agriculture, and infrastructure. German companies were invited to play a central role in these initiatives, benefiting from the favorable business environment and long-term potential of Central Asia.
In concluding his speech, President Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that regular engagements with German business leaders will open new avenues for multilateral cooperation, reinforcing the strategic economic partnership between Central Asia and Germany.
The event marked a significant step in fostering deeper economic ties between the Central Asian region and Germany, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and investments across various sectors.
