Trump Recalls Aliyev’s Remarks Calling His Peace Efforts a “Miracle”

Baku, The Gulf Observer: US President Donald Trump has highlighted the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process during his address to the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Referring to several international conflicts that he said had been resolved through his efforts, Trump cited the long-standing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia and referred to remarks attributed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“The President of Azerbaijan said: ‘President Trump, in six months, did a miracle.’ It was an absolute miracle that nobody thought could be done,” Trump said.

Trump also said that nearly all countries involved in the conflicts he referenced had sent letters expressing gratitude for his efforts.

The US President’s remarks brought the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process into focus during his address, which covered a range of international conflicts and diplomatic developments before the UN General Assembly.
