UAE Calls for Immediate De-escalation, Urges Protection of Civilian Infrastructure and Strait of Hormuz
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates has expressed deep concern over the recent developments in the region, calling for an immediate halt to the escalation and urging all parties to avoid actions that could further increase tensions and instability.
In a statement, the UAE stressed the need for maximum restraint to prevent dangerous consequences and avert the region from descending into new levels of violence and insecurity.
The UAE also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a swift return to dialogue and negotiations, emphasizing that diplomacy remains the most effective path toward resolving regional disputes.
Highlighting the strategic importance of maritime security, the UAE underscored the need to ensure safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, describing the vital waterway as essential to global trade, energy supplies, and the international economy.
The statement further condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure across the region, including schools, universities, hospitals, desalination plants, energy facilities, transportation hubs, and residential areas. The UAE said such actions constitute a flagrant and serious violation of international law and stressed that attacks targeting civilian facilities cannot, under any circumstances, be accepted or justified.
Reaffirming its commitment to regional peace and stability, the UAE urged all parties to prioritize dialogue, adhere to international law, and work collectively to prevent further escalation and safeguard the security and prosperity of the region.
