UAE President and Qatari Emir Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President of UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, held discussions today in Abu Dhabi to explore ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, aiming to achieve mutual interests and sustainable development for both nations.

During their meeting, the leaders reviewed several regional and international issues of mutual concern, focusing particularly on the ongoing developments in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the protection of civilians, adhering to international humanitarian law. The leaders also discussed enhancing responses to the worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

In this context, Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Tamim examined the proposals presented by US President Joe Biden regarding the Gaza crisis. They reaffirmed the support of both the UAE and Qatar for initiatives aimed at de-escalating the situation, safeguarding civilians, and promoting a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on a two-state solution that ensures regional security and stability.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials from both countries, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and other prominent UAE officials. From the Qatari side, His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Personal Representative of the Emir of Qatar; Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and several ministers and top officials were present.

Following the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad departed the UAE, and he was seen off at the airport by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed along with several Sheikhs and senior officials.

This high-level meeting underscores the commitment of both the UAE and Qatar to strengthening their bilateral relations and collaborating on key regional issues to promote peace and stability in the region.
