US Assistant Secretary of State Mallory Stewart to Visit Astana
Washington, The Gulf Observer: Mallory Stewart, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Deterrence, and Stability, is scheduled to visit Astana next week, according to media reports citing the US Department of State.
During her visit to Astana, Assistant Secretary Stewart will sign the National and Nuclear Risk Reduction Center (NNRRC) Secure Line Agreement between the United States Department of State and the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense. The US Department of State’s statement highlights that this agreement underscores the strong U.S.-Kazakhstan relationship and their mutual commitment to risk reduction and global stability.
Following her engagements in Astana, Assistant Secretary Stewart will travel to Geneva to participate in the Tenth Anniversary celebration of the International Partnership for Nuclear Disarmament Verification (IPNDV). This two-day event will spotlight a decade’s worth of work in nuclear disarmament verification. Stewart is slated to deliver welcoming remarks and contribute to a session focused on the future of nuclear disarmament verification, reflecting on the achievements and future directions of the IPNDV.
