Uzbek President, Brazilian Foreign Minister Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 12 received Mauro Vieira to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and elevating multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Brazil to a qualitatively new level.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Brazilian foreign minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the Uzbek president from Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
During the talks, both sides underscored the importance of establishing a systematic dialogue at the highest level and intensifying political and inter-parliamentary contacts between the two countries.
The discussions also focused on increasing bilateral trade, expanding business ties, and advancing joint projects in the chemical, electrical engineering, pharmaceutical and other sectors.
The two sides highlighted prospects for cooperation in agriculture, breeding, tourism, sports and several other fields. To ensure effective implementation of the agreed initiatives, a proposal was made to establish an Intergovernmental Commission.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on current international issues and discussions regarding the schedule of upcoming bilateral events.
