The office received over 156,000 applications, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year.
Among these applications, 84,000 were for the registration of industrial property rights, and an additional 71,660 were related to various types of applications and requests. Intellectual property rights protection has become a critical issue globally, especially in the context of the fourth industrial revolution. According to Luu Hoang Long, Director of IP Viet Nam, intellectual property plays an increasingly crucial role in the country’s development. Intellectual property activities are becoming more intertwined with economic and social progress.
Last year, IP Viet Nam issued documents guiding the implementation of the Intellectual Property Law. The office plans to enhance international cooperation by participating in negotiations on intellectual property content within the framework of new-generation free trade agreements in 2024. Additionally, IP Viet Nam will lead the development of a plan for negotiating documents on genetic resources and traditional knowledge.
In line with these efforts, IP Viet Nam continues to collaborate with relevant agencies to implement international treaties that Việt Nam has signed or acceded to, such as the Viet Nam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), Viet Nam-UK Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
