Việt Nam Unveils Ambitious National Data Strategy Towards 2030
Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: In a visionary move towards modernization and efficiency, Việt Nam aims to transition all administrative procedure applications online by 2030, as announced in the newly approved National Data Strategy by Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang.
The comprehensive strategy outlines a multifaceted approach, targeting the establishment of a robust digital infrastructure. A key objective is to ensure that by 2030, 100 per cent of national data centres, regional data centres, and national centres for large data storage and high-performance computing are successfully connected, creating an integrated network to support the nation’s socio-economic and cultural development.
Government cloud computing platforms and Make in Việt Nam mobile application platforms will be developed to meet the growing demands of data storage, collection, connection, and sharing in Việt Nam. The strategy emphasizes the pivotal role of digitalizing the entire national database, serving as the foundational backbone for the advancement of e-Government and integration with the National Data Centre and nationwide information.
To enhance transparency and accessibility, all ministerial and provincial-level State agencies will contribute to open data initiatives, disseminating information on administrative activities and government policies. This data will also support the development of artificial intelligence applications.
A key efficiency goal of the strategy is the reuse and sharing of at least 80 per cent of administrative procedure data, streamlining online public services and administrative processes for citizens and businesses. This initiative aims to reduce redundancy and facilitate smoother interactions with government services.
Digitalization will extend to various sectors, including land data, traceability of One Commune-One Product (OCOP) products on online platforms, logistics, and electricity consumption. The strategy envisions that, by 2030, 90 per cent of cultural heritages, national relics, and special national relics in Việt Nam will be digitally preserved through the creation of digital libraries and digital heritage initiatives. Additionally, all domestic tourist attractions are expected to align with the digitalization trend.
The strategy also highlights the importance of completing the social insurance database for employees and providing open data on the labor market, ensuring that recruitment demands and required skills are regularly updated. This data will serve as the foundation for accurate predictions regarding labor supply and demand.
The National Data Strategy represents a significant leap forward for Việt Nam, positioning the country at the forefront of digital innovation. The government’s commitment to a comprehensive and interconnected digital ecosystem underscores its dedication to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in public services, ultimately driving the nation towards a more digitally advanced future.
