Voronezh Region Delegation Visits Bukhara, Strengthening Uzbekistan-Russia Partnership
Bukhara, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from the government and business community of the Voronezh region in the Russian Federation, led by Governor Aleksandr Gusev, visited the city of Bukhara, where they were warmly received by the Hokim of Bukhara region, Botir Zaripov.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the rapid development of relations between Uzbekistan and Russia, grounded in the Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership Agreement and the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership. Over the past five years, notable progress has been achieved in trade and economic cooperation between the Bukhara region and Russian entities.
Russia remains one of the top three foreign trade partners of the Bukhara region. In 2022, mutual trade turnover reached $452.0 million, with exports amounting to $82.0 million and imports at $370.0 million—representing a 140% increase compared to the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2024, trade turnover stood at $322.0 million, with exports rising to $73.0 million, a 110% increase from the same period in 2023, and imports totaling $249.0 million.
The meeting focused on implementing agreements reached during the Bukhara delegation’s visit to Voronezh and advancing cooperation projects to the practical stage. Governor Gusev expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and stressed the mutual benefits of accelerating joint initiatives.
The two sides affirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, transport, logistics, culture, education, and sports. A comprehensive roadmap outlining these areas of cooperation was signed during the meeting.
The delegation also visited major manufacturing enterprises in Bukhara, where agreements were made to pursue joint projects. Additionally, the guests explored the historic and cultural landmarks of Bukhara, appreciating the city’s rich heritage and modern vibrancy.
This visit reinforces the strong ties between the Bukhara and Voronezh regions and reflects the broader strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia.
