12 Killed, 309 Injured in Attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced early Sunday that 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday.
According to GACA, the fatalities included four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshi nationals, and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
The authority said 309 people sustained injuries, with several reported to be in critical condition. All injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at hospitals.
GACA extended its condolences to the families of those killed and expressed wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The authority also confirmed that the attack caused damage to property, adding that assessments were underway to determine the full extent of the destruction.
Following the incident, operations at King Khalid International Airport were temporarily suspended to allow emergency response teams and relevant authorities to assess the damage and verify the safety of airport facilities.
In its initial statement, GACA reported that several people had been injured, noting that the full casualty figures were still being established. It said the suspension was necessary to facilitate safety inspections and protect passengers, airport personnel and civil aviation infrastructure.
The latest incident occurred just two days after two separate attacks at the same airport on Thursday reportedly killed three Saudi nationals and injured several others.
Authorities are continuing to assess the consequences of the latest attack and the damage caused to airport facilities.
