Zelenskyy Acknowledges Ukrainian Offensive into Russia's Kursk Region

Kyiv, The Gulf Observer: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed a recent offensive into Russia’s western border region of Kursk, highlighting efforts to “push the war into the aggressor’s territory.” The announcement came during his Saturday evening address, where he acknowledged the strategic actions undertaken by the Ukrainian military.

In his address, Zelenskyy praised Army Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, noting that he had “already reported several times — on the frontline and our actions and pushing the war into the aggressor’s territory.” The president expressed his gratitude to the units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces responsible for these operations, stating, “I am grateful to each of our Defence Forces units that ensure this.”

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is demonstrating its capability to “bring justice” and apply “the kind of pressure that is needed — pressure on the aggressor.”

The Ukrainian offensive has coincided with significant developments in the region. Earlier on Saturday, Russian authorities reported the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents from the border area, describing the move as part of a “counter-terror operation.”

In a related incident early Sunday, at least 13 people were injured, including two in serious condition, as a result of debris from a destroyed missile launched by Ukraine in the city of Kursk. The acting governor of the Kursk region confirmed the injuries, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

The situation continues to evolve, with both sides engaging in military operations that highlight the intensity of the conflict and the growing impact on civilian populations in the border regions.
