Xi Jinping Signs to Confer National Honors to 15 Distinguished Individuals for China’s 75th Anniversary

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order on Friday conferring national medals and honorary titles to 15 distinguished individuals in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The awards, conferred following a decision by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress earlier in the day, celebrate outstanding contributions across various fields.

Among the top honors, the prestigious Medal of the Republic was awarded to four individuals, recognizing their exemplary service to the nation. Wang Yongzhi, a pioneering missile and rocket expert and key figure in China’s manned space program, was honored posthumously. Other recipients included Wang Zhenyi, a medical scientist renowned for breakthroughs in leukemia treatment; Li Zhensheng, a wheat breeding expert; and Huang Zongde, a war veteran.

In recognition of her role in fostering international cooperation, Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank and former president of Brazil, was awarded the Friendship Medal, highlighting China’s appreciation for her efforts in global economic development.

Ten individuals were awarded national honorary titles, acknowledging their significant contributions to their respective fields:

  • The title of People’s Scientist was awarded posthumously to Wang Xiaomo, a radar expert and pioneer in China’s early warning aircraft development, and to Zhao Zhongxian, a leading scientist in high-temperature superconductivity research.
  • Bayika Kalidibek, a veteran border patrolman of the Tajik ethnic group in Xinjiang, was honored with the title of People’s Guard for his dedication to safeguarding China’s borders.
  • Renowned actress Tian Hua, known for her portrayal of iconic female characters in early Chinese cinema, was conferred the title of People’s Artist, recognizing her lasting impact on China’s film industry.
  • Xu Zhenchao, a highly skilled technician in container handling technology, was awarded the title of People’s Craftsman for his groundbreaking advancements in the field.
  • Legal scholar Zhang Jinfan and the late Huang Danian, a strategic scientist and geophysicist, were both recognized with the title of People’s Educator for their contributions to legal education and geophysical research.
  • Lu Shengmei, a doctor dedicated to improving healthcare in underdeveloped regions, was awarded the title of People’s Health Worker, particularly for her efforts to reduce infant mortality and promote safer childbirth practices.
  • Zhang Zhuoyuan, an influential economist known for his significant contributions to market economy research, was honored with the title of Outstanding Contributor to Economic Research.
  • Lastly, Zhang Xielin, a celebrated table tennis player and coach, was awarded the title of Outstanding Contributor to Sports, recognizing his accomplishments and legacy in Chinese sports.

These honors, bestowed on the occasion of China’s 75th anniversary, reflect the country’s deep appreciation for individuals who have made significant contributions to its progress in science, health, education, and cultural heritage.
